From the 1st April 2023, Personal Assistants must receive the updated rate of the Scottish Living Wage of £10.90 gross per hour. For those that employ personal assistants through SDS Option 1, your funding local authority will have incorporated an uplift to cover this increase into the direct payment you receive. Contact your social work finance department directly if you have not been notified of this. You should also liaise with the payroll company you engage to arrange for the new rate to be paid to your personal assistants if they are currently paid less than this amount.
